Pete has been endorsed by Governor Snyder, Congressman Paul Ryan, Herman Cain, Senator Pat Toomey, Governor John Kasich, Congresswoman Michele Bachman to mention just a few.
Pete has been incredibly competitive in polls, closing to within 5 points of Stabenow before the primary and he has been doing well with his fundraising efforts.
He served as the ranking member on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, playing an instrumental role in reforming the intelligence community after the terrorist attacks on 9/11.
Working with both Democrats and Republicans, including a Democrat president, Pete Hoekstra helped balance the federal budget in the 1990s. During that time, there was in fact a budget surplus!
His main primary opponent, Clark Durant, doesn’t have nearly enough name recognition as Pete has. There have been rumors about him taking too much money out of his non-profit charter school organization. He doesn’t have the “it” factor that Pete has, Pete is just a real likeable kind of guy, that is accessible and understands business, economics and politics.
Pete has been endorsed by Right to Life and he is very strong proponent of the lives of the unborn.
He has supported multiple pieces of legislation over the years that protect unborn children. He supported the Right to Life Act, the Parental Notification and Intervention Act, and the Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act. Each of these acts protects the unborn children of the United States.He also supported legislation that rewards families who have adopted children with tax benefits.
He will do right by the citizens of Michigan.
